Garlic-head Vase with Almond, Willow and Spring Swallow Decor in Painted Enamels Ch'ien-lung period (A.D. 1736-1795) Ch'ing Dynasty Height 17.5cm This vase has a straight mouth and a head which resembles a head of garlic. It has a tall slender neck, a large round belly, and a flat base with a low ring foot. The outer wall is painted in enamel colors with a willow tree and an almond tree. Roosting birds , swallows in flight, bamboos and rocks add further exquisite touches to the scene.
